WPMP

The WorleyParsons Project Management Process (WPMP) and the Enterprise Management System (EMS) form the two components of WorleyParsons’ systems which work together to deliver quality assured results on projects.

WPMP defines the way projects are to be planned to ensure quality, efficiency and consistency in delivery.  WPMP provides a common framework for project execution which is applied to all project activities across the WorleyParsons Group.  Once this planning is complete (in all aspects and areas), EMS provides the project team members with the procedures, guidelines, forms and templates to deliver the project.

Phased Project Approach

An overview of the Phased Project Process and the associated key activities/goals is provided in Figure 1.

Projects are divided into five phases, with each phase corresponding to a key decision point. The phased approach is based on a Gate at the end of each Phase, where a decision is reached on whether or not to proceed to the next Phase. The five phases are:

• Identify
• Select
• Define
• Execute
• Operate

Structure of WPMP

WorleyParsons has categorized its project processes into nine “Activities”, namely:

• Health, Safety and Environment
• Project Management
• Capital Cost Estimating
• Project Controls
• Project Assurance
• Engineering
• Procurement
• Construction
• Commissioning

These activities are applied across the five project phases. However, because of the different stages of development for each phase, the tasks being performed in each phase may differ.

General Principles of the WPMP

The WPMP is underpinned by the following principles, which are further explained in the following sections:

• WorleyParsons' Project Management Process (WPMP) provides structure and consistency to projects executed by WorleyParsons
• WPMP has the flexibility to vary its recommendations according to project size, complexity and risk to provide a "fit for purpose" approach
• WPMP is underpinned by an unobtrusive assurance process which provides confidence that WorleyParsons' managed projects will deliver exceptional results
• Adequate front-end loading (FEL) is a cornerstone of WPMP
• Projects are divided into phases, each corresponding to a key decision point - a Gate separates each phase
